The Hopi Wastewater Code

All Reservation natural resources are interconnected. The planning, design, installation, and use of residential, commercial, industrial or other wastewater collection, pumping, treatment, and disposal systems on the Hopi Reservation have a major impact on all Reservation natural resources and the general health and well being of the entire Hopi Tribe.

The installation and use of wastewater collection, treatment, and/or disposal systems should not adversely affect the public health nor cause the degradation of ground or surface water or any other natural resource. They also should not cause a public nuisance or any other negative aesthetic impact.
