Pollution

The Water Resources Program works in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Office, General Council, Navajo Nation and a variety of governmental organizations to address several sources of groundwater pollution on the Hopi Reservation and to protect our drinking water. Currently, the Hopi Tribe is working to clean up two sources of pollution in the Moenkopi district, the Tuba City Landfill site, and the Leaking Underground Storage Tank (L.U.S.T.) site.

Technicians take one of the quarterly samples from the monitoring wells at the L.U.S.T. site.
