Keams Canyon Watershed Restoration and Education Outreach
The Keams Canyon community and visitors will benefit from this park development and natural area protection project along Hwy 264 across from the Keams Canyon Shopping Center. Recreational opportunities will be improved while protecting riparian habitat and shallow groundwater quality.
Major components of the project include:
- Site cleanup, road closures, and patrolling
- Park development with designated parking areas, planned foot paths, picnic areas, large group activities areas, and exclusion of vehicles from sensitive areas
- Protection of surface water quality through contrail of erosion and illegal dumping
- Restoration of native plant communities
- Public outreach and education, including public meetings & school field trips
