GIS

The Hopi Tribe Water Resources Program maintains a Geographical Information System (GIS) database containing spatial information pertaining to the Tribe’s water resources.  Shapefiles are in UTM zone12, nad27 and contain metadata files in .xml format. *
  • Hopi boundaries: Boundaries of the Hopi reservation and tribe-owned ranches
  • Hopi streams:  Major streams in northeast Arizona. Developed by the Arizona State Land Department and edited by Hopi Water Resources Program
  • USGS streamgauges: Locations of USGS-maintained stream gauges throughout the Hopi reservation
  • Weather stations: Locations of Hopi Tribe- and Weather Service-maintained weather stations located throughout the Hopi reservation, tribally owned ranches and nearby areas

* Files are provided in a compressed format (.zip).  In the Windows environment, programs such as PKZip or WinZip can be used to decompress these files.  Free evaluation versions of the software are available at the following websites:
